Navis™ SPARCS N4 TOS Operations

Course Description:
This course presents the fundamentals of the SPARCS N4 terminal Operating system. This class is focused on the Yard and Vessel planners who will manage the terminal operating processes as well as the IT staff who will maintain the system. The class is presented through lecture, demonstrations, class participation, and hands-on practice sessions. This class does not include topics on functional customizations or modules not available at this time.

  • Working knowledge of terminal operations
  • Sound computer skills

  • Start up and log into N4
  • View and Open Windows
  • Navigate Tabs – Also Undock a Tab, and add a Tab to Favorites.
  • View and Update Container Details
  • Create and Use Filters for creating sub-lists
  • Sort Lists
  • Add and Remove Attributes from Lists
  • Create and Update Bookings
  • Reserve Empties against a Booking.
  • Pre-Advise Truck Visits
  • Receive and deliver containers via gate functionality
  • Define Holds/Permission Rules
  • Verify that Hold/Permission Rules are applied appropriately upon receiving a container at the gate.
  • Update Yard Positions of Containers
  • Define and Update Vessel Visits
  • Import and Export EDI
  • Review EDI import and Resolve Errors
  • Discharge/Load Containers From/To the Vessel
  • Create Rail Visits
  • Discharge/Load Containers From/To the Train
  • Define Service Events
  • Run Reports
