california cartage selects navis to "connect the docks" at georgia port
Major Port-logistics Company Will Use Navis™ Yard YMS to Speed the Flow of Goods

OAKLAND, Calif, November 15, 2006 — Navis, the global leader in software solutions for supply chain execution, announced today that a powerhouse port-logistics company has implemented the Navis™ Yard yard management system (YMS) to streamline the flow of goods or "connect the docks" from the Georgia Port Authority (GPA) to some of the world's largest retail chains.

California Cartage Company (Cal Cartage), a family-owned and controlled company based in Long Beach, has installed DC Flow YMS in four weeks at its cross dock distribution centers in Savannah. By selecting DC Flow YMS, Cal Cartage is able to provide throughput, visibility and speed of cargo from GPA to major retail customers' import and distribution centers (DC). This process helps retailers support promotions and quickly identify out-of-stock items to prioritize movements.

"The Navis solution provides us with the advance capabilities we need to serve our world class customers," said Luke Lynch, Executive Vice President at Cal Cartage. "Increasingly, our clients are realizing that advanced yard management systems are quickly becoming a must-have application. DC Flow YMS allows us to deliver superior service our customers expect."

In addition to selecting Navis for its proven software, Cal Cartage decided on DC Flow YMS based on a strong client endorsement by GPA whose containers are managed by the Navis™ SPARCS terminal operating system. "Because of the great track record that Navis has, not just with GPA, but with many of its customers around the globe, we're delighted to see one of our port users choose the Navis solution," said Robert Morris, Director of External Affairs at GPA. "Obviously, bringing our partners under the same technological tent to create a seamless physical and virtual transition between GPA and Cal Cartage is a critical part of our success moving forward."

Cal Cartage executives were equally impressed with Navis' client reference list that includes recognizable brands such as Wal-Mart, Coca-Cola Bottling Company Consolidated, Albertsons, Perdue Farms, Inc., Jo-Ann Stores and Dot Foods. Navis has added new clients in less than a year to its already impressive DC installed based, which include Autozone, Johnson & Johnson, Pep Boys, Academy Sports and Supervalu.

"Navis Yard YMS will increase the efficiency of GPA, Cal Cartage and the major retail clients they serve," said John Dillon CEO of Navis. "Our software will exceed service level goals at Cal Cartage by leveraging real-time inbound and outbound visibility. That means no more priority containers with unknown contents sitting in the yard. And no more lost trailers. Our partnership will streamline the flow of goods from gate to dock to yard for increased DC capacity without new investment in facilities or equipment."
